ECERS-3 is here!

A revised version of the ECERS-R is now available.

The aim of the revision is to improve the useability of the ECERS-R and its prediction of child outcomes. The basic structure and many of the items of the ECERS remain the same, but there are some key changes.

Download a presentation from the authors here for more detail. Download a PDF of the presentation here.

If you are a local authority or provider using the ECERS-R, you do not need to do anything about this yet. The ECERS-R remains a valid quality improvement tool and we will maintain our current ECERS-R training programme until we are able to evaluate the ECERS 3 in the UK context.

We will be completing our own training on the ECERS-3 with the authors in early 2015. After this we will have a better idea of the training needed in the UK for authorities and settings wishing to transfer to the updated scale. From our initial conversations with the authors, we do not think it will be onerous but it is obviously something we need to plan for.

Local authority ECERS Network members: we will be including a session on the ECERS-3 at the next ECERS Network meeting later this term, so please do come along to that if you have questions or would like to find out more.
